AM First Steps (Pre-Preparatory School)
2.5-3.5 Years - Learn-through-play - 2 hours
AM First Steps (Pre-Preparatory School) sets the tone for a child’s educational journey. By experiencing school as a fun, exciting, and caring place, children begin to build a foundation of curiosity and a positive attitude towards learning.
The Pre-Prep program provides a smooth transition from the Toddler Program into AM Preparatory School. It is designed for children aged 2.5 to 3.5 years and is delivered as a purposeful learn through play program. Each session runs for 2 hours and introduces early concepts in numeracy and literacy while ensuring children learn in playful, active, and developmentally appropriate ways.
Children take part in weekly hands-on activities that develop fine motor skills, build early awareness of letters and numbers, and encourage learning through songs, actions, and connections to prior knowledge. Just as importantly, they begin to form positive relationships with their teacher and peers, learning what it means to be part of a classroom community.
The centrepiece of Pre-Prep is its focus on exploration and discovery. Each week, children rotate through different learning areas, with every activity carefully designed around intentional goals and linked to an overarching theme or weekly focus. This ensures that learning remains playful, enjoyable, and meaningful.
The Pre-Prep curriculum is guided by a Scope and Sequence that aligns with AM Preparatory School, creating a smooth and supportive transition into the next stage of learning. At AM Pre-Prep, children are seen as active participants in their own growth, with classrooms that encourage creativity, choice, and discovery.
By the end of the program, children are well prepared to continue their learning in AM First Steps (Preparatory School). AM Pre-Prep provides families with a supportive and engaging pathway into formal education while ensuring that learning always begins with play.
