Literacy Specialist | Founder of AM First Steps | MEd (Teaching) | Grad Cert in Cognitive Psychology & Educational Practice | NESA Accredited Teacher | TAE Qualified | SPELD NSW Member

Stephanie is a Literacy Specialist and the founder of AM First Steps, bringing together a strong academic and practical foundation in how children learn and develop. She holds a Bachelor of Education and a Master of Education (Teaching), alongside a Graduate Certificate in Cognitive Psychology and Educational Practice, specialising in cognition, metacognition, and motivation in learning. This training gives her a deep, evidence-based understanding of how children actually learn. Stephanie has completed SPELD NSW's specialist Reading Intervention Course and is a SPELD NSW member. Her experience spans the classroom, teacher training as a practicum supervisor for pre-service teachers, and formal assessment as a NESA HSC Marker. Drawing on this research-based foundation, Stephanie designed and founded a bespoke, holistic learning program at AM Preparatory School, purpose-built for young learners and unlike anything else available. The program develops literacy, numeracy, creative arts, and physical education together, grounded in evidence-based practice, and teachers within it undertake ongoing professional development to consolidate their own understanding of the research behind what they teach.
